I shoot close up.
I shoot close up. If you know anything about photography, my workhorse lens is an 85 mm. Sometimes I shoot with an old 105. It’s truly vintage. I bought it off of a neighbor years ago. The focus is manual only and isn’t exactly tack sharp. I have to use a lens adapter. But there’s something so special about it. When I nail focus and light, it’s just butter.

Whether it’s shooting with an old, beat up lens or because I’m shooting an actual, real life human {anyone else think AI images suck?}, it’s not about perfection. Perfection is boring. Perfection doesn’t exist. Perfection quietly kills our spirit and our souls.

So if I get the chance to photograph you? I’m going to get close. Because that’s where the magic is. That’s where I can find the real you. Your light. Your unique little perfectly imperfect soul.
