I don’t do sneak peeks

Baby toes in a sweet family photography session in Chicago

I don’t do “Sneak peeks”, which are images that photographers post online immediately following a session to generate excitement about the gallery and possible back end image order. I also don’t post any images online that someone does not love or approve of. Photography is so incredibly vulnerable. Oftentimes, someone is meeting their photographer for the first time at a shoot. The expectation that within minutes they are ready to bare their soul for the camera given how self-conscious so many of us feel in our bodies is just not a fair expectation. Also, people hire photographers to document special times in their lives, and they have a right to keep that private, regardless of who retains the rights to the images as an artist.

When you book with me, you can trust that YOU are the first person to see your images. And then you get to decide. Can I share them? If so, where? And which images? This image was from a new motherhood session. It is also part of a yearly series that this family has hired me to provide for them, My Album Session. And because they are keeping their newborn off of the internet, this is the image that I will share from our time together. Because your story is YOUR story. I’m just honored to be invited into your sacred space.

Gina
