Both the experience you get, but also the experience of the person giving the thing you want to get. I recently set out to offer some new elements to my portrait photography work. I have been a photographer here in Downers Grove, Hinsdale, and the Greater Chicagoland area for many years now, but it was always something I kind of considered “a side hustle” to my main job, which is a Clinical Therapist specializing in body image, teen issues, women’s issues, mental health, and eating disorder recovery. That is a job I have done now for over 20 years. As I was reworking how I wanted to structure my sessions, it dawned on me that my work as a therapist is not something that sits alongside my photography, but in fact, is the very thing that sets my work apart. It is precisely because of the clinical therapy work I have done that I have the skill set, the training, and the knowledge base to allow for my subjects to feel calm and empowered in front of my lens.

If you have poked around here on my website at all, you may have noticed that I have decided to call my signature package “The Experience”. Not only is it a nod to my experience, but primarily, it details something exciting that I know you or your girl will get out of our time together. This includes a pre-session interview done virtually to ensure that there is already a connection before we even meet up and the camera comes out. We also will spend some time co-creating this session together; wardrobe, location, inspo, and all other details. Finally, our time ahead of the session ensures that our time together during the session will build confidence, self-awareness, and and identity-building.
